I am Struggling with Veganism… are you?
I have been struggling with veganism for awhile now. Don’t get me wrong, much of what I eat is Vegan but…
I can’t help but feel that by eating “fake meat products” we are saying we can’t do without meat. Will this be translated by others into, it is ok to eat meat. I enjoy some fake meat dishes occasionally, but I never liked meat so it is not a big deal. Then I remember this is my journey. It is voluntary and there are no rules.
Cheese, on the other hand, is my nemesis. I always ate more cheese, to assure I got enough protein. My research has shown me there are many other ways to get protein. Unfortunately, I love cheese. Every fake cheese I have tasted is gross, so there is no replacing it.
I watched this video, on YouTube today, by NikkiVegan and felt renewed. Not only is she willing to talk about the hard parts of the transition, but she has many of the same ideals. The most important is that she doesn’t push her views on others.
While I adapt well to change, and welcome it, I do not like massive, fast change. You will not see me jumping into a cold pool on a hot day. You will see me inching in little by little, giving my body a chance to acclimate.
So if I eat only a few Vegan meals a week, or one Vegan meal a day to start, I will make a difference. If 2 of us do this we will make a bigger difference. What if 100 people did it? 1,000? 100,000? You get the picture. Do what you can and make a difference.
Love all of you ~Kittie
